Before, During, After

Almost everyone you meet
That you let enter your life
Touches you in a way
You might not realize.
You’ll be able to break it
Down in three parts
Before, during and after
They entered your heart.
The before, you never knew
You had room for one more
Someone that simply
Walked through the door.
They came for a reason
A lesson I suppose
For yourself or them
But you see how it goes

During the transition
Getting to know them faze
You gradually travel
Through each other’s maze.
You question on this journey
How far you will go
And how much effort you put in
In getting to know
This person you enjoy
The mere presence of
And you wonder at times
If you’ll fall in love.
Or will they get lost
As the mazes combine
And you’re stuck in confusion
When you get left behind.

After you finally
Find your way out
And waste too much time
Wondering what it’s about
You gradually gain clarity
And accept the fact
It was a moment in time
Neither of you will get back
You begin your stroll
On your path once more
Never prepared for
The next before.

I’ve always been a deep thinker. Superficial, mediocre conversations will never do. I want the raw, bone deep, authentic version of people. I’ve always expressed myself through writing. The only talent I possess is being able to articulate emotions through written expressions. Strangers comment on how my writing has helped them to realize that they are not alone. They find comfort in knowing that someone out there not only understands, but can put into words, what they feel. I’m an INFJ-E
